Part of the new Dream Hollywood complex in Los Angeles, TAO Los Angeles, Avenue, Beauty & Essex, and The Highlight Room opened this spring, transforming a Hollywood block into a vibrant hospitality and nightlife hub. Originally from New York City, the TAO Group's new properties all have a uniquely Los Angeles feel.
A public alley links Dream Hollywood and the dining and nightlife venues in and adjacent to the hotel, creating a communal gathering space.
Inside the TAO restaurant, a tunnel lined in reclaimed weathered brick, layered with velvet curtains and carved stone ceiling panels, leads guests to the host stand.
The building’s original bowstring trusses—prevalent in early 20th century Los Angeles architecture—have been restored and lit to highlight their details. An over-scale custom Quanyin statue, a signature element at TAO Downtown, sits in front of a wall of terracotta radial tiles.
Avenue Los Angeles is conceived as an undiscovered mansion that has been transformed into a bar, lounge, and club. Old world charm mixes with modern finishes.
Beauty & Essex is as a series of experiential spaces celebrating the concept of beauty. Each room has its own character and experience.
Located on the rooftop of the Dream Hollywood, the Highlight Room is an 11,000 SF outdoor bar, lounge, and restaurant covered by a retractable roof enclosure. A wood and stone island bar has been designed to maximize views of the iconic Hollywood sign and the city skyline.
