Visitors to the installation, designed by LAB at Rockwell Group, are immersed in a canopy of techni-color lanterns suspended above the Winter Garden at Brookfield Place.
Glowing, touch-sensitive stations invite guests to "send" wishes to the canopy where they transform into displays of dappling light and color. In its ambient state, Luminaries emits choreographed light and music shows inspired by natural phenomena, such as the drift of falling snow.
Brookfield Place will donate $1, up to $25,000, for every wish made during the holiday season to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, a national non-profit that is committed to raising funds for research to develop new, improved and less toxic treatments for pediatric cancer.
Luminaries is on view from December 4, 2019 to January 3, 2020. Read more here.
